Abstract
Many parts of Yazd Province, located in the central region of Iran, consist of desert and wilderness areas. These regions remain sparsely populated due to harsh geographical and climatic conditions, and access to some areas is also difficult. As a result, these areas have become key zones of concern for the security of Yazd Province. The present study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing the sustainable security of Yazd Province, with a particular focus on its desert regions. This research is descriptive-analytical in terms of methodology and applied in terms of its objectives. In addition to documentary and library research, primary data were collected through field surveys, which involved analyzing the opinions of experts using quantitative analysis of questionnaires distributed among specialists. The statistical sample for this study consisted of 65 experts from various desert regions within Yazd Province. After collecting the survey data, the responses were entered into SPSS statistical software, where they were analyzed to derive the desired results. Through statistical analysis, the current security situation in Yazd’s desert regions was examined. The findings indicate that military and security factors had the greatest impact on the sustainable security of these regions. Following this, economic, cultural-social, political, and geographical factors were ranked in order of importance. These results highlight that the maintenance of security in desert areas is largely dependent on the presence and activities of military and security forces. At the same time, economic, social, cultural, and political factors play a significant role in ensuring the long-term security of these areas.
