Abstract:   (885 Views)
The present study aims to investigate and analyze the factors affecting voting behavior in the constituencies of Sar-e-Pul-e-Zahab, Qasr-e-Shirin, and Gilan-e-Gharb counties in the tenth and eleventh cycles of the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections. Using a theoretical framework and a combination of electoral behavior models, this study analyzes the role of key variables such as tribal-ethnic divide, religious divide, county orientation, political factionalism, and economic factors in shaping the voting pattern in these regions. The findings of the study show that in both cycles, the aforementioned variables have had an impact on electoral behavior, and changes in the extent and manner of these factors' impact have been observed between the two cycles. In particular, in the eleventh cycle, the impact of tribal-ethnic divides and county orientation has increased, indicating the strengthening of local and ethnic identities in the political decision-making process. In contrast, the role of religious divides has decreased compared to the tenth period, which could be due to social developments and changes in the priorities of voters or influential individuals in this area. In addition, the role of political factions and economic issues was more prominent in the eleventh period than in the tenth period, indicating an increase in voters' attention to the economic situation, political affiliations, and biases.
