The increase in demand and the decrease in resources due to various reasons, has doubled the importance of supply, management and optimal use of freshwater resources in arid countries. Iran has experienced water scarcity due to geographical reasons and today it is suffering from water shortage crisis due to human reasons and mismanagement. All the economic sectors of the country have been affected by the aforementioned problem, and especially agricultural activities are not as prosperous as they were in the past. From the social aspect, the expansion of migration and the emergence of dissatisfaction have been the consequences of the aggravation of water scarcity. This research, which is of an analytical type and was carried out in a library method and with an inductive approach, analyzes the country's freshwater resources and the effective factors in its scarcity and explains the consequences. To evaluate these resources, the form of important global indicators has been applied. The findings of the research emphasize that Iran's freshwater resources is becoming critical due to climate change, mismanagement and overexploitation. The output of climate change is an alteration in the type, time and intensity of precipitation. The excessive dryness of the land, the subsidence of the plains, the spread of protests against the problem of water shortage, especially in the cities, are the most important consequences of the aforementioned problem.
